SUMMER DIARY: SANIBEL ISLAND

Baiser Beauty

Why spend lots of money going to fancy beaches when you can have the time of your life in this inexpensive and gorgeous island. Sanibel!

We recently had the opportunity to shoot a video for our summer collection and not only fell in love with this beautiful beach, the people were so nice and the energy was so calm and relaxing that we wanted to stay there forever.

This place is known for its magnificent beaches and its shells. It’s a very relaxing and family-friendly little town where you can spend a quiet afternoon collecting shells, enjoying the relaxing beach or just finding rabbits running around all over the island.

Sanibel is located in the West Coast of Florida and it is surrounded by wonderful beach towns like Fort Myers and Captiva. It takes less than 3 hours from Miami to get to this little paradise and you can forget about your car once you arrived, because Billy’s Rentals has the best bikes you can imagine, from Tandem bikes to Quadricycles.

Sanibel Island measures roughly 12 miles long and 3 miles across at its widest, so it is pretty easy to move around and you can definitely go for a bike ride around the island.

For the location of the island, hotels are pretty expensive but we had the opportunity to stay in one of the most magical places on the island, the Anchor Inn, we stayed at one of the Cottages (those triangular houses you see in our video) it was super clean, a lush tropical vibe and it had everything we needed and enough room space for 6 people to stay. The prices are very affordable and it has its own pool and lake where we fell in love with the turtles that call the Anchor Inn their home.

If you are looking for a fun place to have breakfast, lunch or dinner and you are not sure they will have what you are craving, this island has it all. The Island Cow is an island tradition for over 15 years, it has become a destination in itself for both visitors and locals. From their signature homemade muffins and large menu, to their a-moo-sing decor and indoor/outdoor dining concept, you’ll clearly see why they are continuously voted the Island’s best Lunch and Family Dining experience.

And last but not least if you are looking for some vintage shopping you will find amazing second hand furniture and vintage clothes near by at Fort Myers (only 30 min away).

Sanibel truly has it all, pastel colors all over, the best people, the best vibe and wonderful and long beaches that promote peace and love for nature, this kind of places are here to connect us deeper to mother earth and to make us enjoy the extraordinary simple things in life.

We love you Sanibel!
