It can be pretty overwhelming out there when looking for a good organic product, there are so many natural and organic brands around these days. How can you know which brand is best for you?. We have created a quick and easyguide to help you get started into the Natural Organic Beauty World.

First things first. Organic, Natural, Vegan, Cruelty free, are terms that we hear on and on and It all sounds good, but it’s essential to know what all of these terms really mean in order to become a conscious consumer.

NATURAL vs ORGANIC: Natural products don’t really need to meet regulations. A Natural product typically contains plant-based ingredients like aloe, beeswax, and shea butter, but don’t have to meet the same standards as organic products.

ORGANIC vs 100% ORGANIC: Here are 2 classifications based on the percentage of organic ingredients in the products:
-100 % Organic: Must contain only organically produced ingredients.
-Organic: Must contain 95% minimum organically produced ingredients.

VEGAN: Vegan means that the product you’re buying is not made with any animal based ingredients, this doesn’t mean it’s 100% natural. Vegan products can still contain synthetic preservatives like parabens and sulfate. Make sure you choose a healthy vegan beauty product.

CRUELTY FREE: Looking for cruelty free products is imperative. Since natural ingredients don't harm, organic companies should not be testing on animals. Organic means working with nature not against it. ( Every year more than 100,000 000animals are killed in U.S. labs)

HARMFUL CHEMICALS: Products that contain ingredients such as Ammonia, Dubutyl phthalate, Formaldehyde, Lead Acetate, Hydroquinone, Mercury, Parabens, Triclosan, Toluene are not safe for your health. Natural ingredients are simple to read and understand.

TAKE CARE OF OUR PLANET: When looking for organic beauty products you want to find products and companies that promote a better planet. It is important to commit to brands that truly empower people and respect all living creatures, make sure you are supporting brands that you feel are making a difference. How are they giving back to the community, what is their philosophy? All these things matter.

CONSCIOUS IS THE FUTURE: We are living in a world where every conscious decision we make creates a positive impact in our reality, we need to start thinking sustainable if we want to live longer and happier.

GO SMALL: Make sure to try small companies, makers, people in your community. Go for fresher products that last less but benefit your skin. It is like buying at the farmers market versus at a chain store, for sure a chain store will be cheaper, but not necessarily better.

SMALL BATCH BEAUTY: Go for handcrafted small batch beauty, this means sustainable, unprocessed natural ingredients. Plus knowing the amount of love and dedication that is put into every product. You can’t get better beauty than fresh beauty!

REMEMBER: Our skin is our body’s largest organ, and everything we put on our skin is entering our blood stream. It’s pretty scary to think the amount of toxic chemicals we have used in our lives. While ignorance is a bliss, knowledge is power and now you know better.
